11:21 am: teenie-tiny break
Hi. How are you?

spring break was way too short. didn't get much done. really wanted to see rachel over break (and give poor little willow her presents - it's been a month & a half!), and go to the eye & teeth doctors, and relax a little more...but i didn't.
the 'brand new' show was excellent. stayed in columbus until monday. came home feeling terrible though - rain, release of stress, ineffective pain meds. so, doctor appointments on tuesday. sleep and clean on wednesday. thursday got grades (all 'a's, yay!) and went to walmart for shower supplies, etc. then went to todd's for taco-skillet-dinner thing and a movie (let's go to prison). friday went with nan to pick out her new glasses, then went to pa's for salmon/porkchops/etc. and some fun with todd's wii. saturday i cleaned, then todd came down to spend the night. ate fried chicken & played cards with the girls. sunday we went to the mall for haircuts then had hotdogs at sam's hotdog stand/tcby. yesterday classes started again at 9am (chem). Spent nearly $400 on books again. found out that i'll have to go to athens for pre-med school required classes, fall-spring 2007/08. am taking the mcat on june 15. starting to feel more confident about it.

right now i'm sitting in the riffe rotunda with todd's laptop, kinda bored. he had class at 10am so i rode with him. i wanted to get some of this school stuff sorted out before my class at 3. kinda sucks, i don't get out of class until 7.30 tonight then have to be back here at 9 tomorrow morning. i'm not used to these long days with early mornings.

gonna go now. maybe play some bejeweled. just waiting for him to get out of class so I can go eat. later taters.

These were the bonus questions on my biology final.
Match the quotes to who said them.

Calvin & Hobbes
Douglas Adams
Albert Einstein
Stephen Hawking
Dan Quayle

“My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.”

“There is a theory which states that if ever for any reason anyone discovers what exactly the Universe is for and why it is here it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another that states that this has already happened.”

“Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If there is oxygen, then we can breathe.”

“The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.”

“Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.”

i haven't been posting anything for several months, so i've missed the chance to gush over the brand new 'brand new' album. i can't begin tell you how perfect it is, so you'll just have to buy it, borrow it, copy it, or illegally download it and find out for yourself. getting very very excited about the show friday so've been listening to it constantly (mixed randomly with the other albums). my favorite song? it's hard to say. handcuffs, probably. or - the archer's bows have broken. or - limousine. i really love the single that's out now, too - jesus. their website says it's available at 'singing dog' and 'magnolia thunderpussy' in columbus, so i can get it this weekend. (where's magnolia now? did they move to campus?) anyway, they just amaze me. all three albums very different, all three albums great. it's impossible to say which is best.

so...the moral of this post?
be a dorky little fan like me. buy this album! you won't be disappointed in the slightest.

10:01 pm: *stuff*
happy 23 birthday jeremy!

haven't written in this thing for a while, so maybe people are wondering what i've been doing. well, not too much. school and sleep mostly. have been slacking this quarter so i may get some bad grades. but it's finally finals week and i don't really care about grades right now. just very happy to have this quarter over with.
at the end of the week, friday, i'm going to columbus to see 'brand new'...so i'm very excited about that. and i'll be going to bento go-go for some delicious sushi. don't know what we're doing on saturday. i want to go to cosi, but todd says it's for kids...so i don't know. it's going to be st patricks day so maybe there'll be something going on up there.
ma finally bought 'super fruit frolic' for me so i've been playing that a lot today instead of studying for bio final tomorrow.
bought borat at walmart the other day & got carded. you have to be 17 or older to purchase it... it didn't really bother me - i'm starting to get to the point where I appreciate my baby face.

well i'm done for now.
didn't really say much did i?
talk to you guys later.

01:48 pm: Poor Michigan...
Today is sucking pretty bad.
Tomorrow I have a bio final and a takehome psychology final due - and I haven't started on either of them.

But yesterday was fun. Everyone at Pa's house to watch the OSU-Michigan game and eat pizza and beer - Nate, me, Todd, Josh, Leslie, Pa, & Mamaw. I didn't know anything about football, but it was still fun. And I learned a *little* bit.
Then after the game we watched home videos & laughed a *lot*...

S'all I've got to say for now. Need to work - I've slept half of the day away already.

Bye!

12:50 pm: Random.
Don't really have time to talk, but...

Skipping school today to finish a psychology paper that's due tomorrow. It's been due for 5 years. I took an incomplete in the class in 2001 because of this same paper...

Sunday before last, went to Mountain Stage & saw Alejandro Escovedo with Todd and John & his girlfriend. Going to go again this Sunday, too.

Sunday (2 days ago) we took Todd's niece, Christina, to Columbus to see (John Ralston), Rooney, and Ben Lee. I didn't know if I'd really like it, but I did. I *really* did. I'm listening to Ben Lee now.

Have an intense addiction to sushi. I think about it all the time. There's an excellent little asian cafe thing next to the Newport in Columbus - Bento Go Go. It's my new favorite eating spot in C-bus. (The Rooney singer was eating in there when I went in this last time.) They make these things called 'buckeye rolls' that I think are pretty good. And their philly rolls are delicious. So fresh. We need a good sushi bar in H-ton. I mean a simple one, not fancy-schmancy like Hibachi. Around here I just have Super China Buffet sushi...it's not bad. I'm an expert.

It's voting day. Gonna go later. You should too.

I had a lot more to say but my brain is kinda blank.

Oh! Can't wait for Nate to get here (17th!). I'm going to make him go see 'For Your Consideration' with me. I know he appreciates Christopher Guest as much as me. I can't wait!

I'm going to stop now. If I remember anything else I'll come back and add it.

Bye now!

11:01 pm: Things that did & didn't happen...and things that *will*.
My computer has been messed up for about a week. It takes spells where it won't type anything. I'm just waiting for it to do it again. Probably will halfway through this entry...

Last Saturday went to a Fairland Youth Football League game where Todd's 9-year-old neice, Alexi, was cheering. It was really sweet. And she's really good. All back-flippy and everything.
Didn't go see JJ. Afraid he wouldn't live up to the genius I expect of him.
Didn't go see Langhorne. Todd was sick.
I can't really remember the weekend all that much.
Oh, I spent Sunday doing a psychology take home test.

Going to Columbus tomorrow to see the Drive By Truckers. I'm not really a fan, but Todd is...and I think it will be fun anyway.
On the way home, may stop at the Bob Evans Farm Festival. I haven't been to it in years & I thought they were stopping them...guess not.

Okay. Now...Let's see if I can embarrass my dear brother.
Cleaning out the basement of Ma's house, she found this list from *ages* ago entitled 'My Top Songs' in Nate's handwriting.
(A few of them don't really look like his handwriting - so they are starred.)

12:54 pm: Things.
Jimmie Walker (JJ Evans on Good Times) is in town this weekend, at the Funny Bone. It's a must see.
Langhorne Slim will be in town soon. Tuesday. Also a must see. At the V Club, or something like that.

Reggie (her original name was JJ!) goes to the doctor tomorrow. She gets her booster shots and we'll see about getting her spayed. I'm also going to see if I can get some tranquilizers for her...there's so much kitten-energy in her!

Did well on my tests last week.

Bought new shoes and keep getting compliments on them. They *are* very cute.

03:08 pm: For What Reason
Well, I dreamt again that Daddy died. We were walking to a mall and some people jumped out and attacked us - stabbing him to death. I got his blood all over my hand and I swore that I would never wash it off...

This comes from one of the sweetest, most depressing albums ever:

And it came to me then, that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breathes as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today
As each descending peak of the LCD took you a little farther away from me

Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye
It stung like a violent wind, that our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds
But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all
And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself

'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room
Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said, that "Love is watching someone die."

So who's going to watch you die...?

I haven't been writing in this thing for a while now, not like I used to anyway. I need to get back into it. It keeps me in touch with myself & I guess it keeps me in touch with all of you too. So anyway. A few things about me from the last few months...

I'm drawn to all things pink. I don't know when or why this started. Most of my life was spent hating the color pink and all other things 'feminine'. Now I love it. Mainly candy-like pinks. I like floral patterns too. Calico prints especially.

I've got a new kitty. Reggie! She black and white and cute as a button. We were driving from Todd's to here on Nan's birthday (01 Sept) & saw her on the road, in the rain. And she was *so* skinny. I thought I'd drop her on Pa, but I think we've decided to keep her here. We got her shots and all and now I'm working on making her fat. She goes back to the vet in a couple of weeks and I'll see about getting her fixed.

Todd got a DS and 'Animal Crossing' so we've been able to visit each others towns. It's very, very cool (and not the least bit dorky). So now I have foreign fruit and my store was upgraded! I'm very happy about it.

Got a lab coat for microbiology and really enjoy looking at myself in it. It makes me feel smart.

Have been craving some kind of excitement. Been feeling a little bit down lately. Like I'm in a rut. Don't really know what to do about it though. Am really looking forward to cooler weather. I'm thinking that will cheer me up. I don't like hot weather. Plus, I'll get to wear different things for a while. I really think my wardrobe might be bringing me down.

I haven't really been listening to music lately which is weird for me. I buy CDs every now and then, but never even open them. Except the new Bob Dylan. I have listened to that a few times. It's really good. Surprise!

Been having some *very* bad dreams lately. The worst was 2 or 3 nights ago. Dreamt I got in a fight with Pa, then he died in a car wreck before I could apologize. The worst part was just knowing I'd never be able to talk to him again. I had a lot to say, a lot unresolved & I'd never get to fix it all. It really upset me.
I love you, Daddy! Please don't die...

'Big Brother 7: AllStars' is over now. It's weird not having it around anymore, but I was pretty happy with the outcome. I would like for Will or Janelle or Danielle or James to have won, but Boogie, Will's best friend and the other half of 'Chill Town' won. Which is okay with me. He was pretty entertaining and he some-what deserved to win. He played the game pretty well.

I've missed the last couple of weeks of 'Project Runway.' Todd recorded them for me, but I haven't had time to watch them. I'm really starting to miss it. I think I want Michael Knight to win. Partly because of his name. I would buy clothes designed by Michael Knight.

I have tons left to talk about, but it's getting late & I'm starting to bore myself.
So. K. Bye.

School's out.
Didn't do so well.
Long story.
Haven't gotten grades, but I know they're not good.
Probably a B. And maybe a C.
Never done so badly in my life.
Start back again on Monday.
No, Tuesday.
Forgot about Labor Day.

Am reading "Maybe A Miracle" & it's very good.
Recommend to all.

Love, love, love Animal Crossing - still.
Todd got me the help book thingy a month or so ago and it's been invaluable.
Wish I knew other people who had the game so I could visit other towns...
Also been playing lots of Battleship.
Am pretty addicted to that too.

Todd's here now. Playing SuperMarioBros.
We've been watching "Veronica Mars".
Got the first season on DVD.
I like it.
I'd just seen random episodes before.
Much better to watch them all at once, from the beginning.

Kitties went to the vet Monday.
Very difficult getting them into cages.
Got a few scratches. Corgan.
They both got shots.
Macca had an ear infection, so he's on meds now.

Murph went to the vet a couple weeks ago.
She was 10lbs overweight, so she's on a diet now.
Very hard to deny her treats and people food.

There's so much *not* going on right now.
Still - really tired.
Bad sleep lately.

Nan's bday is Friday.
Still no card or gift.
She's a difficult little lady to shop for.
Anyone got any ideas.

Not really anything else to say.

Love you.

Also, since I didn't mention it last month, I will now:
Happy 1st (and a month) Birthday, Jarrett!!! Love you, Buddy!
Kiss-kiss-kiss!

Still really stressed about this English class. Not really talking to people or thinking about anything but the writing I have to do (and keep putting off).
And first philos exam is Tues. My teacher is an embarrassment. That may be a little harsh, but I do cringe a lot.
He's way too excited and dramatic about philosophy and "humanity"... And, Dude, button your shirt!!!

We have a new kitchen/dining room floor now. Looks nice. Good job, Pops!
Bathroom renovation is next week. Can't wait for that - it really needs it.

Speaking of "needs"...I need a vacation. Ideally? Chicago. Or Canada. Or Mt Rushmore. Or DC.
Somewhere cooler would be nice. Alaska?
Even Columbus or Charleston would be nice. I'd just like to spend some time away from the tri-state area. There's nothing to do here.

Movies I need to see:
Pirates of the Caribbean
Talladega Nights
Lady in the Water
And probably some others...

Gonna get dressed now. Type a little english stuff.
We'll talk later.

And I'm tired right now, so this is going to be short.

Finished the Geog333 class on Thursday & got an "A".
Will start "Philos of Relig" on Tuesday evening.
Am still working on EngLit & getting a little stressed because I'm pretty far behind turning in work. Am reading "The Remains of the Day" now and it is very, very good.

Not too much to say.

Saw "Superman Returns" last week. Pretty good. I liked it.

Am very addicted to "Animal Crossing" on the DS. I need that big book thing. That gives you hints and stuff...?

"Project Runway" is back for it's 3rd season, so I'm pretty excited about that. Don't really have a favorite yet except for the guy that went home this past week.
Also - "Big Brother AllStars". I want Will to win again, I think. Or Chicken George.

Jacob visited *all* day today. I had to read, so I didn't get to play with him much - but I heard lots of laughing and squealing...

12:45 pm: Another word for...
School was fine yesterday. I'm really glad it's a sped up (5week) class though, cause if it were any slower I'd have to kill myself. It's stuff we all learned in junior high. Some of it's new and interesting though. Should be a very easy "A"...
Anyway. The online class is also a little too easy. 3 novels to read for the entire 10 weeks. I was kind of hoping they'd force me to read a load of good literature. Cause I rarely get around to reading good stuff on my own.
But. Those aren't really complaints. I'm happy with the classes. I wanted something simple to ease me back into the college experience. And I got it. This fall will probably be a little bit tougher, so I'll enjoy these classes while I've got them.
And - Todd has a class at the same time as me on Tues & Thurs, so we're "carpooling"...

Today - had planned on taking Pa out for his Father's Day dinner, since he got sick Sunday. But we're going to go next week sometime, I think. Today's going to be shopping for car stuff. Brakes for Josh's car, freon for mine, and wiperblades for Nate's. I have some other stuff to buy too, but my brain's a little dead right now. Treats for Murphy, that's another thing I need to get. Anyway, it's time to go.

So, I'm home now.
Really, really, really sad to leave Nate and Allie at the airport.
But had a really good time the last three weeks, overall.
Thanks guys.
Come see me.

Have been really tired since I got back.  Need to snap out of it soon.

Murphy spent the night with me Tuesday night.  That was nice.
Wednesday morning, FedEx showed up with a big bouquet & vase of irises & lilies from my friend.
Opal and Frank showed up Wednesday afternoon.  (They're still here.)
Todd went with me to get gasoline in P'ville last night, then went back to his house until 2am.
I missed my friend.
Maybe going to visit my friend again tonight after his class.
Driving Nate's car.  Pa never got my AC fixed.
Going to Ashland for meds tomorrow.
Then going to Rachel's in the afternoon.

Am still tired.  Want to go back to sleep.  Should shower though.

Will say goodbye now.
Goodbye.
